Default Tips for polishing windscreen

I've got decent polish tools - just interested to know what people recommend for polishing my V70 2008 windscreen.

Shall I just get some generic cerium oxide powder, or a dedicated polishing kit ?

There's plenty of info out there on the web but I'm not sure if Volvo glass requires anything special. My scratches are not deep, but cover the entire area in contact with the wipers. It's quite visible from the inside when the sun is low etc.

Do you mean "white" toothpaste or do you mean "whitening" toothpaste?

I wonder how long it'll be before someone insists newspaper works best, despite the ink containing no lead for decades.

Hi I very much doubt if you will polish out grinder spatter. I did that once years ago while repairing a car and ended up fitted a replacement screen. The spatter melts into the surface and has to be scraped off . A safety razor gets rid of the raised bits of Spatter but it leaves little holes/dents in the surface. If it's bad then get a replacement screen . The spatter will eat/damage your wiper blades . Good luck

I've been trying to clean off the remannants of a water repellant applied to the windscreen by the dealer during application of a paint finish protector, despite the owners manual stating it is not best practice for vehicles equipped with radar and rain sensors.

All manner of chemicals I have used.

The conclusion I've come to for my scenario is that only a new screen will cure scratches, grease or other chemicals adhered to the screen.
