Default Suspension/Heat Shield?

Quick question.

I have two strange noises from the front right wheel which I cant pinpoint and Volvo refuse to accept exist.

The first is a strange creaking noise when first pulling away. Doesnt happen after this but happens everytime I stop and start.

The second has just started and sounds like a 'CHIRPING' noise when I hit bumps in the road. Almost as though there is a small bird in my suspension.

I am not technically minded and Volvo wont help despite having the car for three days. Any ideas would be gratefully recieved. With the long weekend I am looking to jack the car up and have a poke around. There arent major I hope but annoying on long drives with the windows down in this glorious weather.

Car is a '59 plate S40 D5 R-Design 18k on the clock.

Bothj your noises are related ....Driveshaft spline noise , remove the centre bolt , press out the driveshaft in its splines about 1/2 inch ,( easy to do its hand tight ) apply some loctite ( or grease) to the back face of the driveshaft flange which presses up against the wheel bearing , re-assemble with a new bolt and torque up properly ... tell them that it will be a warranty issue ...

That doesnt sound good, i take it its not dangerous. Is it common on such a new car?

So in other words take it back to them and let them have it for a few more days.

Cheers Clan, awesome knowledge.
