I know that this is an old thread, and I stumbled across it because I was searching for the manufacturer of this part. You referred to it as a valve, but it is actually an air pump, but I am not sure exactly how it is used in a Volvo. In a BMW, it is used to recirculate warm air from the exhaust back into the intake manifold, to warm up the car faster, and to bring the O2 sensors up to operating temperature faster. I see that you sold it for £10, which is why I felt the need to comment. Are either of you aware that this is anywhere from £120 to £250 for a new unit, at least here in the States? The buyer in this transaction got a very good deal indeed, if it is a working unit. The strange thing is that this same model is used on several European autos, and the prices for the same part vary by as much as $150, depending on which manufacturer you buy it from. Also strange is that VW charges more for it than BMW.

A new gearbox costs what 800+ pounds ?
Used one is 50-150.

Same

It's used, it's old, and nobody will buy it in a price anything close to the retail

Probably with a few weeks in hand it would go for 25 pounds on ebay from someone who needs it ASAP.

Also the prices here in the forum tend to be cheaper that the prices you will find it at the breakers yard or on ebay. We are here to help each other and make a small profit. Not to make a business out of it.
