I'll back up the OP here and say he's not going mad - My 53 plate XC90 does it - some times a flash will latch on to main beam, and sometimes a full 'main beam' pull on the stalk will only give a flash.

Also the scroll wheel to show average MPG etc seems to cycle through the info randomly, ie. if you turn the wheel one way it might go from average mpg to instantaneous, a second click the same way and it's back to average.

My 05 plate S60 has neither of these issues, but there are notable differences in the stalks and clocks, such as the auto wipers being a stalk position on the early XC90, but an illuminated button on the stalk of the facelift S60. Also the 'Cruise' indicator on the dash says 'Cruise-On' when active on the S60. I imagine these tie in with some updated electronics behind the scenes. What year is your car, Baron?

Hi Raphile, and welcome to the Volvo Owners Forum.

This particular section is aimed at owners of the 02 - 15 XC90 models.

You may have better results if you post in the section that is appropriate for your car, which I think is here -

Cheers

Dave

I have the extreme version of this problem, with light switch on at 12 noon, using the stalk to flash or put on main beam, nothing happens, no blue main beam on light on the dash. There is no click feeling as if worn out....

I have been told its the BCM or the CEM or the LTS or the indicator/wiper stalk itself.

Where would anyone start?
