HU 850 cd unit ?

Ok, so my CD player and Backlights on my hu850 has given up the ghost !!
(Got 6 cds in the player that wont come out)

The Radio is working fine....anyone know if the CD internals can be swapped over from another model ? 803 etc.

I have no idea of any details of this but in my research about replacing my HU-850 but I did notice that cd units can be purchased from here:

HU803 is 4 disc instead of 6 so it's unlikely to be a simple swap. It's also a pre-facelift version so likely to be other differences.

Did you get the CD error and the CD doesn't come out? Just grab another CD and insert in about 1" slightly downwards (so it slides under the CD that doesn't want to come out) then bent a little the CD downwards and press the eject button. It mostly the CD unit inside has four rubber dampers that are sagging and the CD is becoming misaligned with the opening in the front plate.

As for the swap, I've done it between two similar units, it works but not worth the hassle. Either look for a used 850 from the same years as your car, or a 650
