Default Piston price

Why are piston sets so expensive in Britain when you can get UK made AE pistons much cheaper in the USA and spain but not in Britain. Am I missing something here.

Pretty well a universal fact of life, with some differential in the rates depending on country , state, province....

The US is a big market and has a discounting mentality. When looking for spares for my Mercedes I often see much cheaper "for sale prices" in the US of A but when you factor in the import duties and the ridiculous transport costs nearly everything works out cheaper on this side of the water...

...on the whole purchasing pre-imported EU spares for cars within the EU is the best option. I'm not sure how that will work in the future for the UK however. (Trying my hardest not to turn this into a Brexit off topic topic!)

Sorry for late reply but been away. the USA pistons were on e bay but the seller only had 2 left. They were AE pistons made in the UK but I could not find anywhere in UK to buy them so eventually got discounted +20 set from Brookhouse.
The Spanish ones on e bay were AE made in the UK but not for export the Britain.
