Im not sure you can switch it off? But yeah there is definitely a very obvious audio alert, so not sure why you don't get anything, and your car is a 19MY so will have the newer icons etc.
What I find a bit odd is that a lot of cars with these systems will automatically bring the car to a halt in the event of no interaction, the Volvo will simply kill you by driving off the road into a tree!

Anyway, I am glad I see the message on the screen before there can be an audio warning, especially if you say it is noticeable. I prefer not to wake sleeping kids/wife when driving. Without HUD, I would probably notice the message only after the alarm.

Quote:
An audio warning that isn't noticeable isn't much of a warning. And one assumes Volvo has timed the bongs such that they happen at such time that they allow time to act, otherwise what's the point. Audio always useful in case your eyes are momentarily elsewhere. Be a bit silly for volvo to assume people's eyeline is not momentarily diverted and hence not do the audio warning if a HUD exists. So in summary, if yours never makes the noise, it would appears that its faulty.

Or maybe I always react when I see the message on HUD.
I will need to test it over the weekend. Now my car is parked 1000km away.

I have Heads Up on all the time and do use it, too.
I'd only use a heated windscreen facility for a few days a year maximum. I think Heads Up is a 'no-brainer', particularly so when I see reminders on it for, say Speed Cameras and Speed Limit changes as I'm driving along. Yeah! No-brainer. I'm pretty sure, that you can also turn off its audio alert and just use a visual. Last edited by Begonia; Aug 22nd, 2019 at 18:47. |

I did a trial run in a car with HUD, it convinced e to switch to HUD on the next car and for the cold days use the VOC remote start to get the car running early to demist/defrost the car.

To me the HUD is a safety feature, the heated windscreen (if you are willing to wait
until it is defrosted before taking off) is a comfort feature. So the HUD wins

Heated windscreen for me. Had it on my main cars for the last fifteen years and find it useful even though my cars are garaged.HUD only tried it on a test drive and was not keen.
PS Still excited about the heated steering wheel - never had that before!

Heated wheel is good on a cold morning, you can enable that and the heated seats with the remote start and it comes on with a remote start under 10 degrees along with the heated screens.
The heated front screen clears mist far faster than the fan, its a safety feature just like the HUD, I dont have the HUD, i dont like them as unlike a fighter pilot its not always in my vision due to mirrors etc.

You can wait or preheat until the windscreen is defrosted, waiting for a HUD won't help.
