whistle on deceleration.
Guys. My B23FK has developed this noise which I can only best describe as a whistle. Engine runs fine but as you decelerate this noise happens as it drops from about 2000 to 1000 rpm and disappears at idle. It seems to be coming from the dizzy cap area. I've replace cap and rotor and no difference. Cant find any vacuum hoses split. Anyone had this?

Is it a turbo? If so, does gently opening the throttle a little get rid of it?

yes its a 98 celebration turbo. Im sure it would go away as its only there under deceleration and not on idle or acceleration.

What does the boost gauge do on deceleration? Also under normal acceleration, is it boosting to where it always did or higher, lower or what?
If you don't have a boost gauge, is the car feeling livelier, less lively or about the same? In addition to Kays suggestion of the inlet manifold gasket, a known trouble spot, i'm wondering if there is a split hose on the wastegate, seized dump valve, split diaphragm in the actuator or similar.

That was exactly what mine was, sounded like a kettle under the bonnet. I don't know how I managed to wreck the gasket when fitting it, but I did.

Ok. Hands up everyone who agreed with my German friend Kay.... Gave her a rev and let it drop...whistle. Gave her a rev and let it drop...whistle. Gave her a rev and sprayed a heavy mist of water from a spray bottle to inlet 4 gasket..no whistle. Genius Thanks all.
