So I typed petrol, rather than diesel.

It's still no more than a grands worth of car, as is being proven out by the fact it's still sat on your driveway.

Good luck with the sale anyway

Think people aren't biting because its Christmas (well nearly), there appears to be newer ones with lower mileage for less money or similar money available, and the ones advertised the same age as yours, are around, as others say the £1000 mark or less for your year.

The number of people in the market for big cars with more than 200k on the clock is small. It does look like a very nice car though, and I think the interior looks damn good considering it's age.

But it seems ever the case that more new cars are being bought each year than old ones scrapped and the market is saturated with quality old motors...people just don't have enough space to put them all. If I had unlimited road or driveway storage and yearly maintenance (mot, tax, insurance) was a bit lighter, I'd probably have 6 cars, not 2. They're so cheap to buy but there's so many to choose from and you can only have 1 or 2.

So the price might be reasonable if there wasn't such a glut in the Supply of old cars. Too much supply, not enough demand (or capacity for demand).

So you end up have to take far less than the car might be reasonably worth just to shift it. Sad but true

it sucks.

Drop the price it will sell, even though it doesn't seem fair.

Not that I am looking to buy but due to this post I have been 'having a ganders at what is available' for around the £1700 mark and have come up with

X type Jags on 54 plates £1700
S type Jags on 52 plates £1700
BMW 530i on Y plates £1600
Mondeo ST on W plates for £750
Mercedes 200 on 51 plate for £1700
Freelander on a 52 plate for £1700
VW Passat on 04 plate for £1700
Golf 53 reg for £1700
99 A8 Quattro 4.2V8 for £1100....£1100....whats going on here??.....!!!!!

All between 100k and 150k miles

The above that shows whats available for around £1-2k is quite amazing considering what these cars cost new. Makes me want to buy 'em all if I had the cash.....!!!

Regards

Keep faith Ewan, a car is worth what someone is prepared to pay for it, it just may take some time in order to get the right buyer.

If you don't have to rush selling it, don't Its a cracking looking car, looks better than my s60 which has done a third of the miles....
