Nearside Wing mirror, repair or replace?
Some kind soul damaged the nearside wing mirror on my '09 V70 SE in the usual supermarket trolley hit and run style that seems common these days. Only the bezel (dented) and the indicator glass (broken) are damaged, the rest is fine. I have seen the indicator glass can be replaced as a single part, so I assume the bezel can as well, can anyone tell me where I can buy these parts for a reasonable price, if indeed I am correct?

When I had my xc70 mirror written off by an oncoming driver total bill came to £350 for the bits. Main frame £150 ish Cover £80 something Glass £64 Indicator £30 ish All plus vat. These prices from memory and 3 years old now. I went to dealer, second hand would be cheaper but you have to find the bits. It's why I now run front and rear dash cams. Next time the other buggers paying. |

On mine the bezel is not part of the main assembly, the XC70 has a different wing mirror. I've managed to get a second hand one for £80 and I'm going to remove the bezel and indicator glass and replace them on my existing mirror, it works out about the cheapest way to do it including the parts as I couldn't find a bezel anywhere. I've seen a schematic which shows it is separate and you can see it's not permanently fixed to the main housing when you look at it closely.

I rechecked on the bezel situation and you may be correct, even if the mirror is a different design to the XC70, however, I can replace the whole mirror assembly if that turns out to be the case so I should be good either way.

The color coded cover should clip off if your second hand one doesnot match the car.
I know it was the last thing I fitted when I rebuilt mine as I wanted to check everything was in order before I could not see the workings. Paul. |

You were right unfortunately, the bezel doesn't come off my mirror. I've replaced my indicator glass but still have a small but annoying dent in the bezel. I will probably replace the whole assembly when I can work out how the door panel comes off, I will probably have to post separately about that as I can't find any videos on how to do mine, which is different to the earlier V70s.
