P1800s
Hi, I am a new owner of a very nice 1967 P1800S, my question is should I retro fit wing/door mirrors, or should it stay original, I cannot decide, is there a general view ?

Safety trumps style. That's the Volvo way, surely?
At the end of the day though, it's your car. You do you.

Personally I think the P1800 shape lends itself well to the "bullet" type wing mirror although door mounted mirrors are more convenient for adjusting to suit your driving position. At the end of the day it's your car and you do with it what makes you happy.Don't forget if you do go for fitting mirrors of any type to take all necessary steps to protect the holes you'll need from rusting in the future.

As others have said, it is your car so only you can decide. Having said that in the classic world originality is king although safety to cope with modern road conditions needs to be considered.
My take would be: if Volvo supplied mirrors as an accessory at the time the car was new, then fitting that type would cover all bases as regards original spec and safety. However, if period mirrors such as Paddy Hopkirk or Denso were fitted they would cover the safety aspect and also keep the car looking 'correct'.

Using google and searching for images of P1800 between a third and half of them have mirrors fitted so it seems it's not cut and dried. It depends on what you want, if it's 100% true original concours then you'd need to get 100% original mirrors or leave it with none, if it's a practical classic that you want then fitting mirrors would be safest in any traffic, and some that look right on the car would do fine. From when I used to fit aftermarket mirrors on my cars back in the 80's I'd go for door mirrors as you get a better view, and personal opinion the conical bullet type would be my choice.
But as others say, it's your car, do what makes you happy and comfortable.
