Have just returned from a 2050 mile round trip to Scotland. Started down on the South Coast, stopped at a Birmingham Travel lodge overnight on way up, next overnight was in Moffat just over the border. Next 3 night stop at Loch Awe, lovely area. Next across to Mull again 3 nights, stayed in a castle, fantastic! It took 7.5 hours one day to drive around the Island about 120 miles, but again fantastic scenery but very slow going, but then again not in any rush.
From here travelled up to Lochcarron, for another 2 nights, yet another fantastic place to stay, lets face it Scotland is all about scenery and the food to us Southerners.
We then came back down to Gretna Green for 1 night, then final journey home.
What really surprised me was that on one tank full I achieved an unbelievable50 mpg, another tank gave me 46.31 mpg, and one at 38.86 mpg. Overall my average mpg was 43 mpg.
So I now believe in some of those 40+mpg that some members seem to achieve.

Saw my first f pace whilst in the Highlands, mainly from the rear, I thought the twin exhausts were to close together making the rear end look pinched, would much prefer them to be at each corner.
I also saw a considerable amount of Volvo,s including 3 new XC90's far more than I get to see down South.

Always nice to read people's positive reviews of Scotland. It's a country I'm very proud of, and the Highlands are stunning regardless of the weather.

800 Chris you have a lot to be proud of.
It is our 3rd time to Scotland for holidays, always the Westcoast.
The stunning scenery, the Scottish people and their hospitality, the B&B,s are some of the best in the UK.
We found some scones to die for in a coffee shop on the Fort William rd about 5 miles outside Oban.
I also found the roads to be generally a lot better maintained than ours down South although a little narrow but you don't want to be rushing around as a tourist, but I do try to be mindful of locals who have a job to do and need to get on, so always ready to let them pass.
I was surprised by the MPG I was getting but then I probably rarely went over 30mph and for every uphill there,s a down,

Cheers Scotland.
