Well, my Blow off valve has arrived today.

Its adjustable so i can use it from low boost to high boost and beyond, also it has detachable fittings so it can be used as a re-cuirc or an atmospheric, so i have covered all bases with it.

And i got the 13g blanking plate too so i covered that too lol.

Ok, i have fitted the MBC and may i say, WOW!!! the noise is a massive step up also i feel like the turbo spools quicker.

Anyway i also fitted my boost gauge and turns out its dead, it centres on Vac 5 not at 0 so that will have to go back i think.

Anyone with a 2.0t that has the factory gauge and a seperate gauge, cane you tell me where the needle points at 12psi please, or a pic would be great but i know that will be almost impossible. i dont want to turn it with too much boost until i get a replacement gauge.

I think Steve940estate once did a test and the end of the white part corresponded to 15 psi, so three quarters of the way should be about right.

Ok so i have removed the cheap broken boost gauge and fitted a digital one i had, unfortunately its in bar, i am having a couple of small issues. 1 for the first 5mins until its up to temp i have a misfire when on boost, i think its poor spark so going to replace all the dizzy and plugs next week. the other issue is in first and second the boost spikes at 0.8bar (11.5psi) and then drops to 0.5bar (7psi). Is this the MBC not doing its job right???

Perhaps the wastegate and/or actuator are not up to the job? Being HPT I would have thought it should be okay at that level of boost though.

Run the original turbo at 12psi. Then change the seals that will be leaking and clean out the pcv sytem. Remove the intercooler and clean all the crap out of it. Then fit a 16T and V cam or similar. Run the 16T at 15psi. Do the upgrades in that order. Oh and get the injectors proffesionally cleaned. New plugs and oil change too.
There's a petrol filter under the car?
Distributor?
Chips?
Aaaargh. All too much.
