Default Potential new 440 owner.

Hi all,
I'm looking at adding to the 940, with a 440 1.8 (1783)?
It's got 79,000 on the clock and been well maintained and under sealed so no corrosion on wheel arches etc. Looks great, main thing is I can't find any info on when the Cam belt is due to be changed, can anyone help?

Thanks
Dave

if its an injection (1.8i) approx 6 years or 60k is safe, i prefer to do mine every 48k miles or 4 years - these cars are slightly prone to early belt failure for some reason. when i looked at mine you are only ever going to damage a valve and scratch a piston if the belt ever snaps (fingers crossed it dosent). its a lot less messy than most "moderns"

as a general rule of thumb, change the belt when you buy yourself a used car. if you do the work yourself, apparantly you can keep the damper on the engine. the bolt and nut to get it back on are P.I.T.A let alone the lack of space. the belt itself is easy to change once you look past that.

its about £90 for a contitec belt kit - comes with idler, pulley and belt with some gaskets. water pump is about £30 and an aux belt kit is £8 the tensioner i got remade at a local shop for about £40
