Google maps for CarPlay - Page 4

Gave Waze a bit of a try this morning. Looks like you cannot run both Waze and Volvo Sat Nav at the same time, you can enter the route but when you start it then the other route gets cancelled. I only briefly tried it today.

Tried dual maps today.

So on starting a AndroidAuto/Google Maps destination, it cancels the already running Volvo Map directions (keeping the map only on the driver display) , and when done the other way round, Volvo cancels the Google Maps navigation.

Shame.

Why is everyone surprised you can't run both at the same time?? Why would you want to, its pointless, plus which one would get the dialogue?

As my previous post with Google, I had both running at the same time with Volvo directions working on the driver display and HUD as I did a full trip with them both giving directions. I have not tried Google, only Waze though since I had the car serviced, and both would not work with Waze. I will give it another go.
I have a feeling that Google may end up being my preferred Nav option. I need to use it a bit more along with Waze. I will miss the driver display and HUD though that I had with the Volvo system.

Ah, OK, Will try it with Waze.
I have found Waze too fussy in terms of changing routes to save 10 seconds - will see if there's a setting to make it more like Google Maps - Waze is now owned by Google, so source data will no doubt be shared.

Why both: Well the map with directions directly in front is great, but I find Google Maps the most accurate for Traffic updates (Not available in HUD/Driver's display) - I have sound muted for both so it's a visual guide, not a interruption to my concentration/conversation/music!

I tried Google Maps again today and tried to use Volvo sat nav as well and it would not let me activate the Volvo at the same time.
The difference being my car was serviced Monday.
Before I used the short cut for my home address that was on the screen to activate the Volvo Sat Nav as well as Google but there are no short cuts now as the service probably cleared them or the service has updated the software and both cannot be used together.
Will explore it a bit more over the next few days.
