Default Coolant Temp Gauge

I really dislike not having a coolant temp gauge on these P3 S80's. Obviously Ford cost cutting. It`s the American Dream. Thinking of adding one to look similar to this pic. Thoughts? This is not the actual gauge.

although you do not have a gauge as such , it is all well under control you will get warnings in the dash if the temperature goes outside of the allowed parameters ...

I have always felt a little less comfortable not having a temp gauge on my wife’s XC70. I need a speedo,Rev counter, volt gauge and temp gauge to allow me to monitor the cars smooth motoring. A fuel gauge is less useful than a temp gauge. Rather have a warning light for fuel than temp.

Fitted one of these to mine, like to see the coolant temp and speed on top of dash.

That works of course, but want something that looks decent and not out of place.

You're knackered then because every alternative will be non Volvo and by definition, out of place.
If you have your phone on display in some form of cradle, then a diagnostic app can show you tons of information.

The models which do have such a gauge, of reasonably modern design, cheat anyway. To avoid warranty claims due to people finding the temperature needle not being in exactly the same place it used to be, not exactly horizontal or vertical, not in exactly the same place as the neighbor's etc., Volvo has for a long time modified the indication to show the same temperature for quite a large interval. Like anything 75-105°C will look the same (or whatever the interval is).

It was different in the PV 544 from 1959, where the thermometer wasn't even electrical...

the reason the needle is so stable is due to the vast reserves of cooling capacity in the radiator , unlike other cars .... If you get a sender and do tests you will find the gauge highly accurate in its needle movement .. it is a precision moving coil instrument behind the facia .
