On this subject I have a question.

Guy at work has an XC60 at home. Claimed boot kick did not work. So I showed him how to do it on my car. Said it works now but is adament that the boot will not close with a kick - only open.

On my XC90 MY16 it opens and closes with a kick.

His is a very new XC60. Have they changed the system so it only opens now and does not close with a kick?

Mine works perfectly fine both opening and closing the tailgate with the foot movement; no problems whatsoever (touch wood)

Likewise, once you know were to stand and how to move your body it works always.
Just ensure all doors are closed and your key is on your body.

My XC90 opens and closes with a kick. It's getting serviced in 2 weeks so perhaps a software update might change that?

I doubt.. that would be a downgrade..

Mine works every time, even for my 3-yr old daughter..

Mine closes with the kick but a few times I have been hit on the head when I forgot to step back

Yes. My iphone8 parked next to the key in my pocket, stops the car from recognising the key.
Carrying one each side of my trousers solves that.

There’s no issue with my wife and I each approaching the car with a key. Not unless I’m driving but she gets to the car first and unlocks the car, in which case her profile is set and all the seats and instruments and mirrors etc move to her preferred settings. Not the end of the world, but it means that I have to swipe down and manually set the profile to mine.
