Default How to sell your car for top money

1. Give it a decent wash
2. Refurbish wheels if they're badly corroded
3. Fix massive dent and scratch on rear quarter and filler flap.

With low miles this should be a desirable car but it's strong money for a pre-facelift and in the current condition way, way too much money. Not sure anyone wants to buy a car with that sort of damage unless it's a bargain. Shame to see one of these being sold like that.

Judging by some of the adverts on ebay.
Open bank account from abroad in unpronounceable forin name
take great pictures, needent be your car, better if it isnt
advertise at half what its worth
agree to any buyer demands, provided they send a deposit. Some will pay in full
Transfer monies immediately to banco de crooko in Gran Cayman
Sit on your new yacht in Cannes while doing it all again.

I see some grubby looking cars for sale on the internet and they’re asking keen money for em too. When I traded my V50 in I washed it, waxed it and valeted it out and I get a good trade price against it.
They offered me initially a grand until they saw it and then I managed to drive to price up to £1500... Thank you very much Mr Salesman

It’s worth investing a bit of time and elbow grease to snatch back a few quid.

I’m nerdy enough to keep all the invoices and other paperwork which gives it history and the impression that you look after the motor. The dealer was over the moon with that, it helps them move the vehicle on too.
When I unload my V60 in four years time, it’ll be sold shiny with all the paperwork that proves what’s been spent on it. I also keep all the MOT’s too, it’s a quick reference to the history without having to log into the Gov website.
Although all this bling doesn’t guarantee a reliable car, it looks impressive to the next buyer.

Absolutely TT, exactly the right thing to do and your car looks mint in the pic. A good set of images – ideally with the car in a nice location – can make a difference.

I reckon the seller of the car in my original link could fix the wheels for £200 and maybe the dent for £300 – depending on where in the country you are and who you know – and then he'd quadruple the number of people that would be interested. Oh, plus give it a decent clean too!

He/she’s living in cloud Cuckoo land, even in good nick it’s not worth that. They should call it a barn find too... that usually whacks on a couple of grand

TBF, I used to show my motor too. I won a section certificate once so that was added to the paperwork pile. Getting it ready for sale was easy, wash the mats and a Vacuuming out makes all the difference compared to seeing cars with pop bottles and other detritus strewn around the cabin. I once saw an ad for a 118 Beemer that belonged to a horse owner. The floors were muddy and the boot photo had a saddle and the woman’s riding helmet in it.... Yeah, I’ll be buying that... Not!! It could be the best car in the world but I wouldn’t entertain it due it’s presentation.

True. £6.5k would be my guess if it was in great nick, maybe £7k due to the miles but it'd need to be a facelift to be £7k+ I think. Will keep an eye on it to see how long it takes until the price drops. Or if he takes it to a barn and takes some new shots!

You should see my wife's car, inside of a stable. Keep telling her but it makes no difference.

I’m afraid that cars with clean interiors are a minority, look at the interior or the car you park next when you next use a car park, it’s eye opening. It always makes me ask the question, would they live in a house full of rubbish? Probably

Indeed. I guess that is the way they treat themselves.
