Default V70 roof rails

Hi all,

How easy is it to fit a set of roof rails to a 2011 V70?

Mine, being ex-Plod, doesn't have them fitted but they will be handy to have when I need to get the roof rack on.

Seen a few for sale via breakers yard etc but do they need drilling/cutting in?

cheers

Take a look at the trim pieces that run the length of the roof.Do they have any short sections that can be prised out?many cars have them or are they all one piece?I would think the mounting holes are already present although possibly blanked off by some means. On my P1 V70 there are oval pieces in the interior plastic trim-one above each rear side window for example-which can be prised out to gain access to the mounting nut/bolt.

No trim pieces along the roof on mine - its an ex police model so perhaps they were removed/not fitted, and obviously no roof rails as these would have got in the way of the light bar etc.

Which I guess means it would need drilling and fitting, not going to bother with that i don't think!

I have an ex-police 2009 V70 and I understand that Thule et al supply feet to sit on the roof, with screw-in attachment to the underside of the roof, just inside the doors. There should be rivet-nuts there.
