Default S40 1.8 petrol MPG?

Can any owners give me an idea of the real world extra urban MPG for their 1.8 petrol S40’s?

I have driven a 2.0lt petrol for the last 20 years. First a 97 V40 and latterly my current V40 and have consistently got 32mpg on average mixed driving. I would think the 1.8 will be similar. The C70 achieves about 30mpg under similar conditions.

The trip computer averages about 28mpg, but in the real world it's significantly more than that, on a decent run I can get at least 35mpg out of a 2l, I'd expect the same sort of figure from a 1.8.

I had a 1.8 V40 so probably the same, I used to drive 340miles every other weekend for a while and if I went the more cross country route doing 60 and 70mph and was reasonably careful i'd get 40mpg. Day to day going to work, partly dual carriageway and partly back roads id get around 33mpg but I wasn't careful with it. Id say on average 35mpg without being too careful maybe a little more.

I only drop in here occasionally so I missed this one, my 1.8i V40 is showing an average of 36.8 mpg on the computer which is more or less what it actually is as I fill to the brim and check the mileage. This is over 2300 miles and is mostly town driving in and around Dover. On a run it gets significantly better than this, 43 odd the last time I went any distance. I'm amazed by it. The car is absolutely gutless though.

My V40, 1.8 , 1783cc volvo engine, manages about 29mpg, but that's mostly around town these days, it will do quite a bit more on a good run.
The 1.8 GDI mitsubishi engine is more economical,.. so some say ?

Apart from MPG, are there any other benefits of the Mitsubishi GDi engine over the Volvo engine, in terms of reliability or performance?
