Default Accelerator cable - NLA :(

I've asked a main dealer for a quote on a number of parts for the 940, and the accelerator cable is now listed as NLA

I'm sure others have come across this issue as I recall my last 940 having a rusted outer sheath requiring a new cable (it was available back then). So, what are people doing now? Can you recommend a company who can repair my cable? Luckily as I have the 850R I can be without the 940 for a while.

Thanks as always

I used this company many moons ago for a speedo cable, good service I recall.

I lubricate mine with some chain grease sprayed up the sheath (that whole sentence sounds dirty ) to try and prevent this from happening. However yesterday I thought my 940 wasn't as fast as it used to be so I discovered my cable has stretched to the point full throttle was actually 2-3rds to 3/4 acceleration! I've had to adjust it right to the end of the adjustment to get full throttle again, but I'm glad I found the source of my lack of power so now I can open the glovebox with the throttle pedal again haha.

Another option, but I've not used them myself.

Awesome, thanks for the links - the cable-tec one is not far from my inlaws, so I'll drop it into them when I go down next. Many thanks !

A quick update just in case anyone else needs an accelerator cable...

While 2 local main dealers insisted that the accelerator cable was NLA, I included it in a list of parts that I asked FRF to quote on... It turns out it is a heritage part, so ships directly from Sweden, but IS still available.

What's the part number? I need a replacement one as mine is maxed out in adjustment, I have a pair of used ones but I'd rather fit a new one and keep those as emergency cables for my 940 & 760.

Hi 360Beast, its part number 9463261 and is £56 + VAT

That for a 940, auto, RHD

I'll confirm that is the correct part when it arrives and after I've fitted it, just to be safe. As its a GCP (heritage) item it can't be returned if you have quoted the part number.

I can confirm the throttle cable 9463261 is available, I picked mine up today from Sentinel Volvo, who were of course Braydon motors, it cost me £75 inc vat, from Sweden - it took 3 weeks.
In my case, the cable had a very slight kink in it, and was very close to the manifold fins, cable probably frayed inside, suddenly jammed open as I started the car (in a field, luckily) just as I put it into drive on my 1996 940SE automatic estate.
Couldn't figure out how to remove the old cable at the time, removed the coil, but with the new part in hand, my first guess is that the key to installing/removing the cable is to pull back the grommet on the plastic interior holding back the insulation between it and the bulkhead, then squeezing the nylon fitting behind it-it is not a continuous fitting, it is a circlip type. I am hoping that doing that will allow me to ease the internal rubber grommet off, which would allow me to withdraw the cable from the engine bay.
I will let you know how I get on, car's in Wales, so going up by train on 23 August. BTW Replacement part has short section of foil heat sleeve on it

I will post a close-up pic of the part, possibly tomorrow, if I can figure out how, to help the diagnosis.
