Default 960 steering column joint

Hi, newbie here so sorry if this has been covered already, I did a search but came up with nothing relevant.
Hopefully I've posted this in the correct section ?
My Dad has owned his 960 from new, and at 87 he'd like to keep it running rather than buy another car. But,
MOT advisory for a worn steering column joint.
So the car has an MOT for now, but his garage tell him there's no way it's getting another without a new joint in the column, but they can't find one.
Are they available anywhere ? I've looked online but can't find one. Is there anywhere that could refurbish the old one ?
I realise that he might not be driving when the next MOT rolls around, but the car needs other work, rear shocks, suspension bushes, and the lacquer is starting to peel.
He's always kept it pristine and wants to have the work done, but he'd be laying out around £2k and doesn't want to do that if he can't get the column joint replaced.
Any helpful suggestions gratefully received. TIA

You can get them used, but a forum member had great results by removing his and boiling it in ATF.

I had the same issue. Presume either upper or lower steering column U joint. I fitted a used one. I also phoned around and found a company who could rebuild it. Can't find who though now! You need to remove and send it to them. Around 3 day turn around. I kept the old knackered one to give another option when this one fails.

James.

FRF would but pretty certain a local indy wouldn't

If the OP has the part number it easy to pop that into the GCP website to check

I was going to say I'm pretty sure someone was after a new one a few months ago and it was NLA.

Thanks,
the name of that company would be really useful if you can dig it out ?
After all, you're gonna need them some day
