So do I. No problems, just ensure that you are able to open the bleed valves before you are all set up to do the job.

Keep it standard, no need for drilled/grooved disks unless you've seriously modified the car - my 940 LPT's standard brakes are way better than my 850R's standard brakes*

Re pads, yep, Pagid made the original pads back in the '90s (including the Police spec 850 ones) and I haven't had any issues with them personally. My other 'go to' pad brands apart from genuine Volvo are Brembo and Ferodo.

I only buy Volvo or Brembo disks - I've found Zimmerman ones warp far too easily.

* The 850R will soon receive a 302mm upgrade with Police spec pads - all Volvo branded. Hopefully that will bring them up to std 940 ability!!!

Ive just had all the brake fluid replaced by a local independent.

Its made one heck of a difference to the feel of the brake pedal.I've owned the car for twenty years nearly and it has never been changed.Discs and pads next, I think

I had the clutch fluid replaced a couple of years ago as I found there was no clutch pedal after a long run ,particularly on a motorway. Scary stuff.....

Can't recommend the Goodyear Vector 4 Seasons highly enough - they're an amazing tyre and the difference in the rain and especially in the cold is amazing. Surprisingly for an all season tyre, still very good in the recent exceptionally hot UK temperatures (36degrees!). Going to put a set on my 940 in a few months time - already running them on my 850R.

On the other hand, steer well clear of the Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance2 tyres - they're frankly dangerous - very slippy on bitumen, road markings, manhole covers etc - made my last 940 Classic a nightmare to drive in the wet.

Sorry if I've just started an avalanche of tyre related posts !

Are you sure about that? I had thought that Pagid are an ECP shop brand. The orginal pads on the Volvos are usually Textar to my knowledge.

Pagid seem ok, but I'd go for Brembo or Ferodo as long as they arn't so cheap they are likely to be fake.

The most recent set of genuine Volvo pads I bought were made by Roulunds in India. They seemed fine, but the next time I went for Brembo. I was able to find Brembo rear disks online at half the price ECP were charging for Pagid.

In my limited experience I have found rusted bleed nipples yield to an impact driver with 1/4" square adapter and 1/4" 11mm or 9mm impact sockets. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before one snaps on me; but 100% success so far without any damage. Impact is often kinder to seized fastenings than excessive torque.
