Default Volvo 940 not starting

Hey folks, my 95 940 TD was starting and running fine. I just replaced the injector pump fuel enrichment screw, being sure to replace similarly. Now it won't start...I have primed the fuel and it is coming through the hole oknwhen screw is out. Any ideas as to how to set properly?, or any other ideas...possibly air locked...thanks in advance guys

I'm afraid I know very little about these engines, other than what I have read in passing on here, having never owned one; most UK 700/900 Volvos are petrol.

People are often directed to VW forums or specialist ones such as:

https://d24t.com/index.php

However, there are some people on here who are knowledgeable about these engines.

Is it possible you have somehow affected the timing of the fuel pump? Was it just the adjustment screw you replaced or the cold start wax stat? If the latter, that is quite a physical process, especially without the correct tools. It could have affected something else.

Hi, The D24T.com forum is a great resource for these type of issues. Air locks in the system are hard to eliminate but having spent this weekend trying to start a 760 this is what worked for me. If you have one, put a temporary bleeding bulb between the feed from the tank and the filter inlet, prim it and be sure there is no air in the filter by slackening the bleed screw on top of the housing. You should see your progress in the clear pipe running up to the pump from the filter. You can check the pump is full by removing the return line or undoing it at the join next to the filter. Once you're happy, (I then removed the bulb quickly but that maybe too soon) crack off the high pressure line for injector number 3, make sure you have a strong battery for fast cranking and crank it over until you see fuel spurting out of the high pressure line or it tries to fire. Re-tighten the line and hopefully this will get it going. I hope this is useful
