Are 460's really getting that rare?
Hey guys, this is actually my 1st post here. I'm currently looking for a 1.8 or 2ltr 460, however there seems to be literally NONE of these cars around my area.
I'm near manchester and ive been following the sales of 460s on ebay and autotrader and on here for a while now, and i have never seen a car that isn't over 100 miles from me. I know there isn't many about, only 1777 according to howmanyleft, but are they really that rare to be seen being sold. It sounds silly to say this is the car i REALLY want, but it is. I also just don't find the 440 that appealing. Can anyone shed any light on why these cars have become so rare? thanks |

I have one of the 2.0's
Yes not many about, nearly all dead and crushed by now. I had thoughts of selling mine today as I want a mountain bike so a hatchback or a van to take it to places in safety would be ideal. The thought of selling the reliable 460 makes me feel ill though so it probably won't happen. |

One reason why there aren't so many on the roads is because they didn't produce that many to begin with (especially if you take into account that the 400 series was spread across Europe and the 440 made it to Australia as well...) Also as with other cars they have made their way to the wreckers, though not so wide spread there either (in my experience, can hardly find anything for mine), the first edition 400 series is becoming rare (especially the late 80's ones with the black grilles, the carb. and turbo versions as well). In my opinion the 480 will be a sought after future classic/youngtimer so might be good to invest in one...
At least that's my view. |

Yup, they are rare. Series ones of all types seems scarce. Yet, how many people have noticed? Here's my beauty (albeit a 440)...

thats a beaut triumph!
Gt - i love the look of the 480, i would also love one of them, but i have to choose one or the other. Its a pity that the 400 series are becoming rare sites, ive only seen 1 round here in the last year or so. |

It is a shame that there seems to be so few about now, although even when I had mine 2 years ago there weren't that many anyway.
Despite my old 460 being about as good as you'd find and having only 65k on the clock it hasn't been taxed since 6 months after I part ex'd it Wish I'd had kept it now as it presumably it got crunched as it had loads of life left in it (I simply fancied a change) I always fancied a 460 in 2.0 litre\1.7 Turbo guise

I'd love a 460 to join the 440. Would have to be a mk1 though and either CD or a turbo, of which there are only a handful left
