You can apply to change the status of the motor car now. Your local post office should know how to do this (if you search the RB's thread I think I wrote a piece with the form number and so on listed). If the motor car has any remaining tax you will get a refund for any whole unused months.

:-)

Not 'who', 'dmw244gl', but 'what'. 'RB' is short for the 'Royal Barge', by which Alan (Othen) refers to his own 244. It is, if I may say so, one of the most well written threads on the forum that both informs and entertains in equal measure.

Just about anything you might wish to know regarding 240s has been discussed in detail, often supported by excellent quality photographs. Alan has also thoughtfully provided an index for quick reference. Definitely worth dipping into, even if you don't have time to go through it post by post!

Regards, John.

Ah yes, you may have to insure the motor car in order to change the taxation class - just like you would to tax it. Insurance is pretty cheap for historic cars though, the RB was only £48 this year.

All the details you need about changing the taxation class are here:

Here is a link to the RB's thread at the time I registered it as an historic vehicle, if you go back a bit from that post you may find some more information.

Best wishes,

Alan
