Default Extended warranty protection

Has any one had experience of the Volvo Extensive Protection scheme?
Just wondering if it's worth over £600 for a years warranty.
Regards, Richard

Do you mean the Volvo extended warranty (or Volvo Selekt used Car warranty), or the paint and interior coatings ?

Like any insurance, an absolute waste of money until you absolutely need it.

Hi, my Selekt warranty runs out in September and I've been offered the continuation warranty.

I think only you can answer the question, Richard - depending on your circumstances.

My Selekt warranty has 18 months to go, but at that time, if I'm planning to keep the car for more than another year, and I can afford it, I will extend it.

I suppose it also depends partly on how complex your model of Volvo is. Mine is a hybrid, so more expensive things to go wrong than say, a 1.6 front wheel drive diesel?

I have just received a similar flyer. £507 for 12 months.

2018 V90 Cross Country

I've decided that at £10 a week its worth it for piece of mind.

We've extended the warranty for the last 2 years due to complexity of the cars nowadays, last year had an issue with the gearbox and it recorded a code so the oil was changed (approx £150ish), this year there has been an issue with an oil leak at the back of the cam cover which was replaced (Approx £900), and then while they had it and on the test drive noticed fumes in the cabin and the EGR metal pipe had cracked (approx £300), then about a month later had hissing and the dreaded turtle on the dash (D5 Powerpulse) and the powerpulse pipe had gone (2nd time £400).

Thankfully all of the above was covered by the extended warranty so in my case has paid for itself over the last 2 years, and will be extending it again later this year, just in case!!

Just had my renewal through for this year, gone up from £607. To £763

£150 increase. Seriously wondering whether to bother as apart from the mechanical break down I already have most of the other benefits with Volvo Assist.
Thoughts anyone?

Well, I was in the local Volvo dealer last year with my V60 and was chatting to the owner of a similar age XC60 while we were waiting. The technician came out after half an hour, sat down with the customer and explained that he needed a new control module (can't remember if abs or steering) for £1200.

Insurance is just weighing up risk and probability ?
