These cracks in the rim are common. Shrinkage in the plastic rim just finds the weakest spot. A local fill with black Milliput should make an unobtrusive repair. When there are lots of cracks you can use epoxy filler and then paint the whole rim with 2-pack black or any other colour of your choice. Body colour often used. There are a few red ones out there. Make sure the crack is totally dirt and grease free. Lots of sweaty palm residue in there!

That is the only gap, so I'll clean it up with some acetone then fill it up with a smidgeon of black Milliput. Many thanks :-)

There is an Everbuild (part of Sika) product , consisting of a superglue and powder filler . The kit comes with black and grey powder, which is sprinkled over the glue before it sets.
Q bond is a similar product.

I've heard baking soda can be used with superglue to achieve the same - not tested it myself but seen videos on YT that appear convincing.

Gas Consumption
At its monthly fill up with gas GAM had covered 188 miles (corrected for the red wheels) and used a smidgeon under 30 litres (6.6 gallons). I make that 28.5 MPG.
I'm very happy with that :-) Here is GAM's new stablemate: the Barge (a 1983 240GLE). :-)

The white stuff in the crack is possibly from a previous repair. There should be no sign of any gaps/cracks anywhere on the rim. Mine is fine and a spare I have is good. However, good wheels are getting hard to find. Most can be fixed either by DIY or expensively by a pro company.

The Barge , not to be confused with DeBarge
