V 70 - throttle cable and connecting rod.
THROTTLE CABLE. Hello - I have a V70. Mk1 Estate - 2.4 Auto - 1999 (registered in March) which must be one of the last with a Bowden cable accelerator. My question is: does anyone have proof that a 1998 accelerator cable will fit my car, please, for I can find no listing anywhere for a new cable to fit a '99 car and mine is getting very stiff?
THROTTLE CONNECTING ROD. Does anyone have one of these please? Now unobtainable. Mine is worn away and tied on with copper wire! This is the short plastic ball and socket jointed rod about 3 inches long that connects the end of the accelerator cable, on its rotary housing to the engine. V70 DRIVERS - Please see my reply to Skyedriver on the subject of a LETHAL brake problem we have both experienced. Has anyone else, please? Best wishes, Buryan aka Kenneth! k.runcimanannand@gmail.com |

My 1999 v70 was fly by wire so I assume while yours is a 1999 registered car it's a 1998 biult car or at least the same . On this basis I would say yes it should fit being as it was the last produced cable for a V70 and you have one of the last produced V70's with a cable.
As for the brake problem, I have not yet found the relevant thread but never had dangerous brakes with mine in 10 years of ownership and a 100K miles. Paul. |

Is the 900 series the same?
My 1992, 940, 2.0L petrol has a cable and connecting rod. I dont know if they are same as V70 though and auto may be different. To the best of my knowledge they are still available. I obtained replacement plastic ends for the connecting rod last year. ( upper 945703, lower 946704 ) The lower has a left hand thread.

Helpful to know that your '99 was fly by wire, GVM, so I'll order a '98 cable - which MUST be the one. I must have one of the last cable models, then. Thanks, both of you for your help.

Discovered, for what it's worth, the throttle cable for RHD is now completely unobtainable as is also the throttle rod! Neither of these have been produced after-market. If anyone should have one of each, I should be very grateful indeed.

check your motor ball size .. although if you ok with metal work you could fit a different ball , even a smaller ball , being metal will last forever .
I used to live down by you :-)

THANKS CLAN!
The problem is that I am disabled with a mile up-hill track so if I take something off the car and find I need parts I could be marooned! |
