Default Sat Nav Map Upgrade Cost.

Went to a local dealer to ask about upgrading the sat nav maps in my V70 (my13) and was informed that, before doing so, it would be £199 first for a software update as maps can only be installed after you have visited a Volvo dealer for a Sensus software upgrade.

I'm assuming that this covers some sort of licensing arrangement as the job only takes some 40 minutes.

Needless to say, I haven't bothered at that price.

Andrew.

I do not know the cost of the software but they should not charge you more than 20 minutes of labour , all + VAT of course ...

You may have a different model, but I enquired about the same for my V60 of the same age, I was told it would be £90 for the software activation. Like you I haven’t bothered.

I baught a garmin sat nav for £140 in Halfords which has free lifetime updates and tells me when new maps are available. Sits on the windscreen when needed and in the glove box when not.

The problem with biult in systems is you can be held to ransome. A conversation I heard in my local dealers, Well sir, do you want to spend £300 trying to fix the sat nav or will you buy a Tom Tom for £150,

A reason I will not pay anything extra for a car with nav.

Paul.
