I would write something in your service book to remind yourself ,and tell them when you book it in . Don't rely on them to remember . the service is recorded for every dealer to see but not the actual invoice which lists exactly what was done , only the dealer which did the work will have that of course.
Thanks Clan,

I have the 2.0 VEA D4 complete with 3rd Replacement EGR Cooler and recall notice :|

The service was done in February this year, so I will need to make a not somewhere to remind the dealer that the car was serviced before the change to the timing belt servicing was implemented.

what are the possible fixes ?

My worry is that they will just do a simple fix like replace the plastic part with a metal part which won't melt. This might fix the fire risk issue but won't fix the underlying egr and cooler problems.

It would be good to see a complete rethink of the Egr system, however, I don't think they'll do this now they've already moved on to the Adblue system and the affected cars are starting to get old.

I fear you are correct and sadly not surprised. This has become standard business practise for many major multi nationals. Avoid class action by notifying an issue and then introduce a cheap fix as a damage limitation excercise which negates the consequence of the issue but not the underlying cause.

I have a 2015 V60 D4 and I had the letter last week.
I purchased the car just over a year ago and it has run faultlessly for the last year, really pleased with it.
Last night on the way home from work the engine warning light came on. I have borrowed a friends scanner and read the code, and cleared it. Drove the car home this evening and it has not come back on.
The fault code was P014C $07e8 ( O2 Sensor Slow Response - Rich to Lean )
On a scale of 1 to oh crap, how worried do I need to be?

as the letter says take into the dealer asap ... It is a minor issue , they will clean the oxygen sensor .... hopefully at no charge . should take no longer than 20 mins . It is not related to any forthcoming recall of which no one has any details yet ..
