Not sure is the honest answer but you may be able to see a way if you take the instrument cluster out. I remember recently i had mine out and remembered seeing my brake light switch easier from above than below.

Not easy at first attach.
If you have the new one in your hand you will understand.
You have to press the pedal down
Push the whole switch to the front / pedal arm
Pull back the white locking sleeve back as far as you can.
Press from the front side ( pedal arm side) of the switch the two catches.
Pull out the switch

IIRC volvo did have a special tool for this game.

99% of people will break of the switch.
You have to adjust the new switch too.
Do you have the new one already?

Good luck, good night, Kay

You were right, breaking off the old switch was a lot quicker. I’d need hand the size of toddlers and 5 tools to get it off intact, which seems a bit pointless as is knackered.

Anyway, old one off, new one on, all working!!

Thanks all for the help, I couldn’t have done it without you. And the Volvo dealers who ordered me one in for the next day (normally would have been next week but he sensed my urgency!).
