Halfords sell a small kit which does the dimming when your main headlights get switched on, just a few cables and a small relay box very simple to fit.

I have ordered from e-bay a pair of curved audi style led drl's which should arrive this week and a new set of grills from volvo totaling £45 so I can actually cut the grills and sink them in. Thats the best thing about these xc90 you can pop the headlights out in under a minute all cars should be like this then you have these 2 grills positioned perfectly to have these led's fitted.

Will show some pics when done.

I´ve seen some XC90s which use the upper beam light reflectors for DRL´s. Do you know if this is selfmade or if this is an adjustment in the car software?

Bye
Robert

Hmmm tough one, as obviously thats the position of main beam.

So are those led lamps 2 mode? Meaning the front led's come on for drl mode then all come on for main beam.

I'm sure it could be made to work

Yes, one of a german volvo-forum did this with normal bulbs in the main beam and a dimmer for DRL (in his S60), but its much electronic work.
So i thought, after i saw it in some XC90 in the internet, that there is perhaps a software adjustment to use the main beams also for DRL.

Had a look around and can easily find led h7s but not drl ones. I suggest a long websearch would be involved!

Also to note previous car a v70, the chap who sold it to me had fitted replacement leds were ever he could, and they all got super hot and started melting there housings so be careful, you may be looking at damage.

Thats weird Bill as I thought LEDs were supposed to be cold running!

I bought some 16 LED H7 replacements from hong kong on ebay. They were pants...more light from a single church candle!
