One of the Sensus comms screens (can't remember exactly where) tells you how much data you've used via the SIM. I didn't bother creating a Three account.

You do get a phone number for the data SIM. When I tried to setup my account with Three, they wanted to send an SMS for verification, but by then I already had the SIM in the car. So I didn't end up completing that process. You may have to put the SIM in a phone first, to set up the online account, and then start using it in the car. That's just a guess.

That usage number didn't look accurate to me. It seems like it shows the data used in the current session, and not a full accumulated data usage.

Well my phone takes smaller size SIMs (nano) to the car, so that's a non-starter.

I'm aware there's a data counter in the car, but I always prefer to be able to see what the network provider has clocked at their end, rather than relying on a local counter.

3's Pay As You Go Trio SIM has all SIM types on one card, so whether you need a standard, micro or nano SIM, you can just pop out the one you need!

Absolutely, but once I've popped out the Nano I can't make it bigger again to put in the car.

You can certainly re-fit the larger cutouts over your nano.

I have done this on numerous occasions when I have needed to put the nano sim in the iPhone into an Android phone which only took a micro sim. It's all pretty tight fitting, so you just clip the nano into the micro 'frame' and it should hold it sufficiently for you to put into the sim slot.

Believe me you can, try it

Mine is definitely cumulative and although I can't say how accurate it actually is, it looks about right based upon Spotify usage. There is an option to reset the data counter and it says mine was last reset 14 April, the date I inserted the SIM.

Unless you use a Nanosim adapter: https://tinyurl.com/khujyy7

I've also successfully used several of the 3 (12Gb) cards in a Huawei MiFi device and have never needed to register, but I appreciate if you want to see data-used you might have to.

I'm intending to go this route for my XC90's data connection so any experiences or tips when you get to install and use it will be helpful!

Cheers, Andy
