03 XC70 rear back plate
Had an MOT failure on parking brake efficiency and discovered shoe spring locating lug has gone! As this is attached to back plate need to fit new back plate, will fit new discs at same time. Having problems locating any articles on this task. Can anyone advise if this is relatively straight forward or does it involve removing drive shafts etc?

I'd be surprised if the driveshafts need to be touched.
There's a pretty comprehensive handbrake overhaul tutorial on my YouTube channel.

Thanks cheshired5, that's good news! Had a quick look handbrake overhaul video but unfortunately doesn't go as far as back plate removal.

Just done both of my back plates on the rear on my 2005 model XC70 before Christmas. I just cut the old ones off and slightly bent the new ones to get them over the hubs and then re straightened them . Didn't even crack any paint ! A very easy job
