This is what I paid 20/09/18 108000 mile service including cambelt + aux belt @99080 miles £530.00. That is for a 2010 1.6 s60 at my local indy.

As i said somewhere else , more and more independents recently are trying to keep as near the dealer prices as possible to ensure good profits , they want their cake and to eat it :-)
I know of two independents who charge slightly less labour and supply genuine parts at more than the Volvo recommended price to make more money .
I have seen cars from such places for their next service and find a non genuine oil filter in there !
so , say a genuine volvo oil filter costs £12 , they sell it for £15 and actually fit a £5 non genuine one therefore making £10 profit on the oil filter alone .
Everyone should scrutinise their service bill where ever they have it done .

No service (just had one), just the belts changed.

Definitely worth shopping around.

Well that seems horribly expensive!

I think I'll be doing it myself on the drive, after the alleged 90k threshold has been crossed, on a nice day.

cambelt kit , around £110

Aux belt and tensioner say £40 + £50 = £90

labour about 1.5 hours @ £110 per hour say £165

thats £ 365 + VAT = £ 438

add another £5 as the parts went up in price by 2.5% last week !

i think a lot of us have lost touch with the value of money these days , when someone up the road had a simple roof felt job done and it cost £2500 i was shocked as i paid about £700 15 years ago for a similar job . The thing is we don't realise how fast the years are going by !

Indeed. Youngest is a Volvo Penta Technician and monitors engines on V. expensive super yachts all over the world from his company in Southampton, liaising with onboard engineers and sending out parts and updates his laptop decides are required! The old adage buy cheap buy twice springs to mind with modern chipped engines.
Give me a set of points and a condenser any day of the week!
