Default V60 wheel advice.

Picking up a nice Volvo v60 inscription plus later today.
I tested a v60 on 18”s before this car and loved it but really wanted a few extra bits so found the one I am buying .
It has everything I wanted and a sunroof I did not know I wanted til I sat in it.
The only problem is the 20” wheels it comes with. Having tested both cars the bigger wheels do make the car a little too firm.
So the question is will I get used to them as it’s just because I tested both together or is it worth dropping down to 18”s to get the best out of the car?

Compromise and go for 19”s

I did exactly what you describe - bought a V60 Inscription with 20" wheels and have changed to 18".
I mainly did it due to the very limited choice (not to mention high cost) of all-season tyres for the 20" wheels.
Yes, the 18s do give a slightly softer ride, but I'm glad I didn't swap for that reason as I don't personally think the difference is that significant.
It will depend on what sort of driving you are doing and on what surfaces; driving around town on some poor road surfaces with potholes etc I still find the ride quite firm (esp compared to my wife's Golf on 16" wheels) but on the motorway it's really not going to make any difference.

Only you can decide, but the fact that you are questioning it already makes me think that you felt there was a significant difference between the wheel sizes so I suppose you must have a more sensitive rear end than me and that you are likely to find the 20s irksome.
However, there is no rush, you could always change after a few months.
Just bear in mind that you will need to declare it as a mod to your insurer.

I am coming from a car with sports suspension and a very firm ride so not a problem for me but did notice a big difference between the two wheels. It’s more what the family will feel than myself.

They do look stunning on the car and done a quick search on tyres. Not a big amount to pick from but not a deal breaker. The price is not great but do less than 10000 mile a year.

Will definitely drive it a while before I make any changes but nice to hear others have changed down. Interested to hear if others have too and not notice much difference also🤔

I think you've hit the nail on the head there. Vocal complaints from passengers are likely to be the factor that pushes you into changing, but I would see if you can take said passengers out for a drive in a car with 18s to check if they can actually tell the difference.

Is it the 10 spoke Turbine wheels you have? If so, you're right, they do look awesome!

wheel diameter is not really an issue on the new range of volvos due to the magnificent alloy suspension components which give a much reduced unsprung weight to bounce up and down and extended wheel travel when you hit a poor road or pothole . Take a look at the underside of your car sometime , it is as beautiful underneath as it is on top . keep your tyre pressures up to at least 36 psi ( preferably 38 psi ) however to prevent rim damage when you hit a big pothole at speed.

Yes I think they are.
Good idea on trying another car with family. If they don’t like the ride will go for that.

When I bought a spare set of winter wheels and tyres for my XC60 (17s rather than the original 18s), I declared it to my insurer (LV) and they were fine. They said I didn’t need to declare it to them, but as I had they would make a note on my file. No additional fee.
