Could do - I've only got two months to find it then ;-) I hope I still have it!

Fuel pump, after dirty fuses, is always the usual suspect, but it is not the only one.
There is a simple way of testing. Read up in the book how to bypass it (from memory, join together fuse terminals 4 and 6, but they vary, I think) and make up a short wire with a crocodile clip on each end. Then next time it won't start, clip this into place and it will start the pumps running continuously. If the car then immediately fires up, you know the relay is probably faulty, or there is another fault in the fuel pump circuit. If it makes no difference, then at least that is one suspect eliminated.

The next culprit would I think be the Crank Position Sensor, or its cables.

Department of stupid remarks: is the multi-plug properly home on the fuel pump relay? Sweden's finest sporting saloon did this to me earlier this year (and there's a thread on this forum about it) and it took an RAC man seconds to sort it out, and me a long time to get over the embarrassment after we found the thing.
