Default Bluetooth music streaming

Newbie here, just ordered MY2014 XC60 SE Lux with standard stereo due for delivery Jan/Feb and just wanted to double check something whilst i still have time to change my spec.

Plan to link iPhone or iPad via bluetooth to play music from offline spotify, i think i will have to control songs via device rather than from car?, does anyone do this now and has any issues. If a phone is also connected, eg. blackberry and the iPad is playing the music then i presume the music will cut out to receive call?

Streaming music seems to depend on the device and the player software.

But you should be able to a) Control via the steering wheel and b) get information about what is playing on the sensus screen (in media screen).

Yes, if a call comes in the music is muted.

Hi Gemez

If you connect your iPhone / ipad to the USB port in the centre consul you can then control the music from the steering wheel control and also get playlists on the screen and still use Bluetooth for your phone. I bought a ipod specially for my XC60 and leave it permanently connected to the USB port and velcoed to the inside of the centre consul only take it out to add more music.

Andy/Chris, thanks for quick replies,

Andy - the basic stereo doesn't seem to have sensus so this is why i was wondering how controllable it is or if i need to upgrade to Sensus.

Chris - do you play and control music stored in something other than itunes via the usb connection, all my music is on spotify,
thanks

Gmez,
Sorry i can't comment on non sensus systems. If you are buying new, don't they all come with Sensus now ? (making the assumption you are buying new or nearly new)

Bluetooth has effectively two channels one for music, one for phone. Go into the BT settings on each device and select the appropriate channel.

I have both iTunes and spotify on my ipod and both work fine on the USB connection and on the car display

I have spotify and want to control it with the car on screen, but whilst it plays spotify the car screen shows music tracks that are on my ipod and not spotify. Is that right? XC60 MY14

Think you need to make sure you have tracks downloaded to your mobile within the Spotify app.

You then need to open Spotify on your phone and select a track from the beginning of one of your playlists and then it will stream over bluetooth via the media player.

That's how mine works although I have sensus connect with internet connection and I often stream mine online (but can be flaky if you lose your mobile phone signal).

Hope this helps.

Cheers Flux. I have got that bit, but I was wondering if there is any control of spotify through the car? And should I be able to see the spotify track on the car screen?
