Next up is a few days of work in HK in August combined with some private time in Vietnam, a country I haven't been to since -96!
I've got several friends who backpack around Vietnam. Is it safe?

Vietnamese are lovely people, one or two rogues, and like anywhere there are places you just don't go but yeah generally safe.

Cool

Just done a California road trip starting in San Francisco, travelling down the parts of the PCH which were open, stopping in Monterrey, Carmel, San Simeon, Pismo Beach, Santa Barbara, Santa Monica and ending up in Marina del Rey (LA). Then back to San Francisco for a couple of days before going to Reno, Navada via Sacramento. Did lots of Volvo spotting along the way, saw loads of older models, 960s, 850s, early XC70s, but not many newer ones.

No idea tbh. I am a suit guy so no backpack for me....

But when I last went, I felt very safe. Was only asked by my driver not to ask about their political system

I am hoping to spend some long weekends in my new garage, once it is finished, I have been waiting almost 18 years for somewhere dry to work.

That will be a well deserved holiday for me :-)

We have 10 days planned for August with the caravan, starting at balloch at the bottom of Loch Lomond then who knows where- maybe Skye or fort William or the Lake District.

The reason I say who knows is 2 last minute weddings have been planned in August 😡.

Can't complain when I live in nice place where tourists pay to visit

Not figuring on having a holiday as it's an unaffordable luxury to have time away from work. However if I did I'd have to pick somewhere where there are dog friendly places to stay.

Having 3 kids, 2 of which have disabilities makes holidays hard work, so I usually need a holiday after to recover. I don't think we have ever had a holiday where we sit and relax in 17 years, if the chance ever happened I think I would get bored very quickly, I wouldn't know what to do!
