Evening all

Im up at the crack of dawn to go and have a look at this:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1988-Volvo-240...QQcmdZViewItem

Ive emailed 'Torsten' to say that it looks from the photos that there are no rear head rests. He says that none were fitted when he bought it and there are no mounting holes for them.

I cant say that it bothers me that much (and certainly wont influence my decision to buy) but Im curious as to whether it is in fact the case that they were not fitted or whether some odd modifications have been made in the intervening years.

Thanks
Ian

I've yet to work out the finer points of rear headrests in the 240s! I have an 88 GLT in black leather, with no rear headrests ... though I'd like to have some! Looking for a seat back with them in if anyone knows of one in good nick for little cash?!

Yes, had a look today and definately no mounting holes or signs of modification - looks as though they were never fitted as standard.

Yup you're right rear head restraints came in on the 89 model year ( onsale in UK from Oct 88 although this date does not account for dealer run out of '88 models)
The seat back frame was also reinforced at this time
They are an easy swop over, the fixing points are the same.
Front seat back frames were also reinforced as there had been occurances of structural weakness in rear impact situations

Thanks Richard.

I think that I'll keep it original though.

Lightbulb Seat with headrest for swap?

Hi ( I must learn how to work 'quote' on here, but this is FAO Supermoto )
I am collecting my 'new' 240 GLT from Andybytheway in Birmingham on Sunday. I am going to have to put a dog guard and boot liner in this and so the headrests will be removed most of the time. I am happy to sort out a swap for the back seat and headrests.
