If the V50 is anthing like the S60 I fitted the wiring kit myself just following Volvo`s instruction booklet. Everything just plugged in. Next visit the dealer for a software upgrade.

Did you buy the original Volvo relay unit or was it an after market one? If the Volvo unit, how much?

I just bought the complete wiring kit for the 13 pin socket with relays, fuses etc. I am guessing put I think it was £70-£80. The instructions were excellent. You could always buy the wiring kit and get an auto electrician to fit the kit.

Jim, thanks for your input.
Was it a Volvo kit?
I would have no worry's fitting a Volvo kit myself as the instructions are here http://vccs.volvocars.se/accessories...4-b8785f260b74
Bearing in mind what Clan wrote above, it's this after market relay and its effects it might have on the system thats got me trembling! I'm OK at the physical side of pulling bits off and plugging bits in, Its the computer stuff and electronics side that I have little knowledge of.

When I spoke to "Service" I told them exactly what I wanted. They called back and gave me the prices.
The girl was still on on the other end of the phone when I came round so I asked to speak to one of the technicians to talk over any options. The price was for fitting of the module, wiring loom (?) and 3 software upgrades. It doesn't include the tow bar. I told them the state of play with he car as well -towbar fitted with the socket bolted to it and the wire routed into the car. They don't even have to take the bumper off to route the wire from the socket.

I'm going to call them again tomorrow and get the price of the Volvo kit. I might try another dealer as well for fitting prices. Thanks Jim.
