Default s40 full beam problem

Hi all, after a few inferior cars I have returned to the Volvo fold. Found myself a great and very cheap S40 ph2, only problem I have found with it is that driving back last night in the dark, when I went to full beam the full beam light is hitting the road only about 20 feet in front of car, dip works perfect, good spread of bright light 50-60 feet. Can the full beam be adjusted independently of dip? Have had a look and can't see anything wrong. Twin headlights by the way.
Any help gratefully received, cheers!

Thanks for the quick reply.
Checked the bulbs first cos I've had that problem before, they seem to be fitted properly, levelling seems fine too because the dips are spot on, the whole assembly inside the headlight does seem a little loose though?

If it's loose it's probably a broken adjuster clip (at the top edge inside the headlight), they do tend to snap. There's a guy that sells a better than OEM one on eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Volvo-S40-.../221690938504?
