Default Aerial mast

Hi, have a Volvo S40 2002 plated, done a silly thing the other day, went through the car wash with aerial up (durr). The thing is I have purchased the replacement mast assembly, ready to fit, my problem is removing the old mast, have turned radio on - loosened nut, pulled mast upwards, stuck solid, now I am hesitant as to use brute force to disconnecting the mast, cant be doing damage, any pointers to removing this, instructions seem a doddle, sure it is if I can get the old mast out.
By the way I have looked through previous posts to no avail im afraid.

Thanks in advance

Cool

Sorry to hear that. My partner (She who must be obeyed) did the same thing, but I managed to solder and glue the bits together, because replacing the aerial base means removing the headliner. The base has a pre amp part in it.
Volvo quoted her 200 Euros for the entire job!

Skyship, don't confuse the man with tales of your V40

I hope you removed the nut, not only loosened it. But it would explain your problems.
Pulling old mast out require some force if belt is still attached to the toothed ring, that's normal.
