Default engine problem

I'm wondering if anyone can offer advice on an issue that has arisen this evening;
I have a 2010 V70 d3 (163ps) which I have owned for just less than 2 years. This evening driving home under mild acceleration there was a loud pop sound (almost like a large balloon bursting). Straight afterwards it seemed to be normal, (I thought i'd hit something in the road that i'd not seen) but next time i tried to accelerate, the revs were all over the place, nearly stalling. It did this a couple more times with small amounts of accelerator pedal, even in neutral. I drove it home on tickover. No engine warning lights have come on at all.
A few months ago the car has had a new intercooler hose, this behaviour is different to when that went (that was lots of whooshing under power, and then engine management kicking in to limit power and dashboard warning to book service).
Anyone else experienced this issue?
Thanks

99.999% the intercooler hose was not tightened correctly and it's blown off or it's a cheap pattern part and it's burst.

Yes I have experienced this issue when I made the same mistake myself on a V70 D5 I once worked on.

The reason it feels different is last time you had a partial leak - this time you have a catastrophic leak.

The consolation is that although it sounded bad - it's a cheap fix. If you know one end of a screwdriver from the other - I'd have a look yourself.
