Default Diagnostics port cover?

2015 model XC70 ... noticed some time ago that the 16 pin (?) connector port (OBD2?) is open to the elements i.e. there is no cover on it to protect it. Should there be one? I do not remember seeing anything in the footwell that might have fallen off. From a preliminary search I am reaching a conclusion that there is no cover on the port and that it is, indeed, open.
Any advice, please?
Cheers, Phil

Not got one on my V70, and don't it's ever had one! 20p per car cost saving probably!

Thank you Tommy ... nothing to worry about then.
As you say though .. seems a bit penny pinching.
Cheers, Phil

Default Data Leakage ?

Maybe the data will leak out without a port cover ?!!

I can probably cajole a friend of mine who has his own 3D printer to make a suitable cover and then sell it at some exorbitant price to those who worry about those things! (Buy 2 and I throw in a free tin foil hat, or buy 5 and get a bonus muffler bearing)

OK, back to the real world, it does occur to me though that dust and assorted detritus will find their way into the socket, but I've never had any connection issues when I plug in my Vida / DICE setup so I assume the socket must be reasonably tolerant to dust etc as my car is far from pristine

Down to just an XC60 currently but plotting to get another Volvo soon...
