We're avoiding St Ives this time around (so far), so no punch ups with seagulls outside the sloop. We do normally take the train in, nice journey and saves a lot of stress.

I took the A6 up to the island car park last time around and it was like trying to navigate a super tanker, so there is absolutely no chance of trying it in the Death Star.

Even the hairpin in portscatho takes two bites to get round

I just took my 2002 s60D5 for the mot this morning to the garage I have used for mots for about 30years, the car past the mot, but I did have both number plate bulbs blown, so the new bulbs cost me £1,
good it passed as it would had run out on the 4 July,

Got round to replacing the rear brake hoses today after replacing the fronts two days ago. Now have HEL braided hoses all round which has created a noticeable difference in brake feel and response.

Had to change an OSR tail lamp; I hate doing these, they have a knack of cutting my hand to bits. However, whatever method I chose, it was less than 8 seconds from start to finish which even now has left me stunned.

So I took my chance in the sun to do a couple of other jobs that appeared on my radar, specifically, deal with the dreadful hot start my D5 '55 plate V70 has, as well as securing the air box that has rattled around in the corner of the engine bay. I'd bought the rubber mounts about 20 months ago, just never did them.
And I also found that the hot engine bay is not great for the industrial tape I'd used to seal up the ABS module, so that got a good dose of cable tying, and should be much happier now.

Net results, cranking speed was a lot higher after arriving at work this morning having cleaned up the earth cable to the engine. Let's see if that's sustainable...

If you put the holder into a 19mm socket, you just clear the sharp edges and don't get you fingers or knuckles skinned..........which I completely forgot about before I cut my thumb as I dropped the holder into the depths of the N/S wheel well. The sharp reminder triggered a memory of how I avoided it last time.........................NB it also works for the front indicator lamp holders!

Took Gloria to the garage for a few things:

Air con not working - "If it is the air con compressor there is one in the boot"
ABS fault - "If it is the module there is a spare ABS module in the boot"

Air con now working and it was just a re-gas. Gloria now has 5.7 litres of lovely 10/W/60 in her though it isn't Shell Racing - got to be better than what it had in her though.

Passenger side directional air vent is now fixed.

The ABS fault - hmmmmm...garage reckons it might be the module but still checking. One of the guys said it might be Gloria getting confused because the pressure sensors are freaking out because of the Gripper limited slip differential I had fitted - I feel an MOT failure coming on....

VADIS chucked up about 20 items but most linked to the map though there were a couple of things that just needed recaibrating.

Apart from the ABS fault she appears in good nick for a middle aged Swede - a bit like Ulrika Jonsson.

Mechanic did say, "You have a lot of Volvo parts." He should see my shed.

Oh - hit 83,000 miles today on the way to the garage. Never thought she would get there at one point.

I would start looking at the abs sensors.. these get mangled very easily when working on suspension, the slightest pull on the wire near the sensor and kaput - yet it will never look like there is any visual damage

If I remember well, when I damaged my sensor, the ABS on that wheel would kick in for no reason when braking. And the ABS system would not perform the check https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oe9_7ZL2nic

I've just taken delivery of 10L of XF Longlife 0w40 ordered from RS Cars Bedford (phone 01525 717346 ) order via their on-line oil shop (http://eshop.richard-shrive-cars.com...2Oil%20Shop%22) to do the T5's oil change.

The price I paid was significantly cheaper than eBay or many other on line suppliers. It has to worth giving them a ring to get a price for the oil you want.

(PS - I don't work for them!!!)
