Default 12V supply from front panel?

I want to wire a dashcam to my S80, so need a 12v supply from somewhere. Running from the armrest 12v socket does not seem to make sense. Any other options?

Thanks

I ran from the middle of 3 fuse boxes in the nearside boot area of my xc70 which is ignition controlled up the D pillar behind the trim and over the headlining to the front.
Neat and tidy with no wires on show and both front and rear cameras have an independant fuse.

Paul.

I have a front but looking to do a rear at some point. Not sure how a rear would work with tinted windows at the back!

Default sat nav wiring option

May help... I was given a sat nav as a Xmas present for our XC70 having resisted before because of the hassle of wiring it. But in fact it has not been too bad. The camera is mounted on screen top to left of mirror. Cable runs to the left tucked behind trim, down door pillar left of screen behind trim and then out to run under the glove box before joining the centre console to sit in the compartment with the 12v supply. Where necessary I have used sticky tab cable fasteners to add more support to the cable. Before doing this I thought it would look terrible but it doesn't ... we don't notice it now until the suction pad with the camera clip falls off the screen. But that is a minor irritant. I plug the powere supply in when we set off and unplug when the journey ends even though the console supply is switched off when engine is switched off.
Cheers, Phil

I ran mine down the left hand side pillar, down to the foot well and piggy backed off the 12v socket supply in the fuse box (passenger foot well). Turns on and off with ignition.

You can buy fuse jumper kits for sat navs etc. Easy to fit just need to find what's live on ignition.
