Its general knowledge that the big revamp for the XC90 will be for 2012. It will most likely include a hybrid engine like the Lexus SUVs. When that happens, prices will be similar to now, discounts will be non-existent, and the current model XC90 will be in strong demand second-hand for its overall practicality and value. I'm not worried!
Also, if you've bought a top spec model, ie executive, R-Design etc, your car will be wanted by many and there will be few good examples around. Buying a car near the end of its model cycle has many advantages, the little bugs have been ironed out and the reliability issues sorted out, when a recall happens, manufacturers will of course up-spec the factory fitted part to avoid future later expense. You are buying a model at it's peak, it many respects. Don't listen to the motoring media hype, if it works, it works, if it sells well, it does so for a reason. |

Thats fine if you know

That’s fine if you know all about the new model and you’re happy with an old model style going out of production. I know Mercedes more than Volvo and for definite once a new model Mercedes came out prices of the old model weakened considerably once the new model got put about a bit. I put it down to the fact that people with money who pay relatively large amounts for second hand cars want the latest shape. I have seen it happen with C, E and S class. Maybe it’s different with Volvo. Maybe the marque does not have as up to date image conscious buyers. |
