The cornering lights are actually two small LEDs at the inside edge of the headlamp reflector. I'll try and take a photograph but they are almost hidden from view.

That would be interesting Nigel, I can’t see a nothing in these lights which might be an auxiliary cornering light, but then again I did have the lights on my previous 2014 SE Lux and could never quite work out exactly wher the light came from anyway.

I think they are exactly that - fog lights that get powered up when turning at low speed. That's what they where on my old 2014 MY Passat. Quite effective though in certain circumstances.
